Cloth Dolls & Doll Quilts
Hours: Wednesday thru Saturday 11-3, Sunday 1-4
On display thru April 1st
Bring your guild and friends to see this spectacular new exhibit! This show runs February 7th through April 1st, with an Open House celebration where you can meet some of the doll and quilt artists on Sunday, March 4th, from 1-4PM. Dolls celebrating the human figure have been made and cherished since very early times. These creations are used as playthings, keepsakes, ceremonial objects, and collected as objects of art. This show brings together handmade dolls of every stripe: from collections of humble rag dolls, to sculptural dolls created by internationally known artists.
Dollmakers featured in the exhibit include Robin M. Fleming, Susan Hale, Elrid Johnson, Alice Miller, Jane Steingraeber, Luella Doss, Charlene Sinitski. International Dollmakers Virginia Robertson from Delores, Colorado , and Elinor Peace Bailey from Vancouver, Washington, will be specially featured in this exhibit. Virginia will be traveling to the museum to teach at the the Quilt & Fiber Arts University Days, June 8&9, and will be teaching classes in the area quilt shops the following week.
Since even dolls need to stay warm , an exhibit of small quilts will complement this exhibit. Included will be crib quilts, parlor quilts, doll and miniature quilts.
