In Memory of Marion Wolfe

How will we remember Marion Wolfe? What words could possibly apply?

In the days that followed my mother's abrupt passing the immediate family was set to the unenviable task of composing her obituary. While searching for the right words, the right meaning to each phrase, the correct structure to accommodate such a brief document, the need for a dictionary was apparent. I went into the den where she would work her crosswords and pulled from the shelf her compact dictionary. A small, folded, yellow piece of paper wrapped around another card and placed between the pages, fell to the floor from this action. I picked up the paper, unfolded it, and read the words written there in her handwriting;

Do justly.

Love mercy.

Walk humbly.

Loss is a painful thing and the sting of the reality of her death was again with us, for on this paper were the concise words that embodied her entire life.

We will all miss this beautiful woman.
